Rooted in Miami is a documentary portrait series capturing people who shape Miami’s identity - Building their own version of the American Dream.

Miami is often photographed for its beaches, nightlife, and luxury. But the real story of this city lives in its people — immigrants, creatives, entrepreneurs, skaters, mechanics, stylists, chefs, and dreamers building something from scratch.

This project will document individuals across Miami from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Each portrait will be paired with a short personal story about where they come from and how they have contributed in shaping the identity of Miami.

It is both personal and documentary in nature—an effort to create a visual record of the city’s diverse backgrounds and independent voices through storytelling and photography.
